چکیده

The usage of SVG (Scaleable Vector Graphics) creates new possibilities as well as new challenges for the accessibility of Web sites. This paper presents a metadata vocabulary to describe the information content of an SVG file geared towards accessibility. When used with a suitable tool, this metadata description can help in generating a textual (“linear”) version of the content, which can be used for users with disabilities or with non-visual devices. Although this paper concentrates on SVG, i.e. on graphics on the Web, the metadata approach and vocabulary presented below can be applied in relation to other technologies, too. Indeed, accessibility issues have a much wider significance, and have an effect on areas like CAD, cartography, or information visualization. Hence, the experiences of the work presented below may also be useful for practitioners in other areas.

Generic Editing of Visual Languages based on SVG standard

Generic editing of visual languages can become easier with a common exchange format for graph transformation based on XML. In this sense, many XML languages (such as GXL, XGMML and GraphML) were developed to represent visual languages as a graph. These languages are compatible with XML technology and are interoperable with a great number of state of the art documentation and graphic technologie...

SVG Web Environment for Z Specification Language

This paper presents a web environment for the Z formal specification language using the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) technology. The Z Specification Web Editor (ZSWE) is the first prototype of a web based graphical editor for the Z specification language. It not only supports graphical editing and global accessibility for the Z formal specifications, but also provides model comprehension faci...

Schematic Diagrams, XML and Accessibility

This paper describes work in progress at Oxford Brookes University. The aim of the project is to define a higher-level diagram description language for the World Wide Web, which captures the structure and the semantics of a diagram and enables the generation of accessible presentations in different modalities such as speech, text, graphic, etc. This project, called Graphical Structure Semantic ...

Dynamic Compensation of Electrical Power Systems Using Multilevel Voltage Source Inverter

A New Static Var Generator (SVG), using cascaded full-bridge inverters (FBI) with binary output levels and the parallel connections of two cascaded inverters by means of current sharing reactor in each phases is introduced. The new M-level inverter, where M is 2n+2 - 3, consists of only 2n single-phase full bridges for each phases. The proposed technique not only increases the current capacity ...

Nonlinear control of power network models using feedback linearization

A method based on differential geometric control theory is presented with the intention to provide insight into how the nodes of a power network can affect each other. We consider a simple model of a power system derived from singular perturbation of the power flow equations. The accessibility properties of the model are investigated, and it is shown that for a simple model with chain topology ...
